Neural Pathways
Rewire your Mind – Changing Your Brain
Walking a new path in the Cornfield of your mind.
Picture yourself at the edge of a huge cornfield.
The corn is tall and un trampled, and the field seems endless. This cornfield represents your mind, with paths inside it symbolising your habits and ways of thinking.
The old path you see a narrow path through the corn. This is your current way of thinking or behaving – familiar and easy because you’ve walked it so many times.
But what if you want to change?
What if this path isn’t helping you anymore?
For changes in beliefs, habits and behaviours to last you need to create a new neural pathways in your brain, which then become familiar, safe with no inner resistance.
At first, pushing through the tall corn is tough. The first few times, it feels almost impossible. Your brain, like the cornfield, resists change.
Repetition is key and each time you walk this new path, it gets a bit easier. The more you walk it, the more the corn bends and clears the way. Similarly, every time you practice a new habit or thought, the new neural pathway strengthens.
Repeating this new behaviour is crucial.
The old path fades as you continue walking the new path, the old one gets overgrown. The corn starts to reclaim it, making it hard to see. In your brain, old pathways (habits, beliefs and behaviours) weaken from lack of use.
Over time, your brain prefers the new path, reshaping your mind, leading to better habits and a more fulfilling life.
So, when you want to change, think of the cornfield. Each time you take the new path, you’re not just walking through corn—you’re changing your brain for the better and it’s so much easier and faster with a little help.
